Since finishing my online MA in Fine Art in 2016, with the Open College of the Arts (OCA/UCA) for 3 years, it's been a busy time.... reflecting on process, continuing to make work, and networking. I've really enjoyed networking with 'real' local artists ... all the while continuing to value my online cohort. It was fantastic to meet my fellow global students in Barnsley as we worked to put our degree show together at The Civic Gallery.
Initially, I missed the course, the contacts and time frame that it provided. It takes awhile to hear a new drumbeat. During my studies, I became focused on digital drawing/painting, meditation, abstract geometric form, memory and colour. These ideas are now broadening out through a continued interest in meditation and the politics of hope, contemporary architecture, and a new appreciation of Brutalist architectural form /patterning. Colour continues to be an important element in my work ....Interest in printmaking - initially through digital prints, but also now through those materially crafted, is causing me to question further the concept of a print.
